5 Fall Style Trends That Might Surprise You

As we transition into fall and plan our layering strategies, sometimes it’s difficult to look into your closet and feel inspired. (Knits? For fall? Groundbreaking.) Here at Masseys we’ve looked beyond what’s already in our closets and culled five fall style trends from the fashion world to incorporate into our wardrobes for a fresh look this season.

Fall Gold

With the more forgiving shades being goldenrod and saffron, the fall gold trend is perfect for creating bold looks. If you’re looking for an especially striking style, this trendy shade is best paired with black; if you want a softer look, then pair with blue. We love to coordinate this trend with leopard or cheetah print heels for extra visual texture and interest.

Exotic Accents

Speaking of leopard and cheetah print, exotic accents are another trend on our radar this fall. Scarves, shoes, and other accessories easily add punch to your look. If you’re looking to incorporate the print as a top or bottom, consider balancing its boldness with a darker shade of a color or black. Even a dress in an exotic print can be styled edgy with a moto jacket, or made extra posh with a tan trench or pea coat.

Cold Shoulder

The cold shoulder trend unexpectedly carries into fall from summer, giving fall knits new life in the best way possible with its flirty peek of skin. Coordinate a cold shoulder sweater and skinny jeans with ankle boots for an effortlessly fall look, or pair with over-the-knee boots for a bolder style. Black and White

A classic color combination, the black and white fall trend is so versatile and offers a ton of options for your wardrobe. Combining textures, like faux black leather leggings with a knit white top, is one of our favorite stylings. Another way to create instant style? Coordinating statement jewelry or a brightly colored accessory, like a handbag or shoe.

Golden Delight

For all the fashionable magpies out there, metallic gold is the trend for you! The most classic pairing for this trend is with black or white, but we like the fresher look of pairing it with greys, tans, and even jewel-tone colors. Because nothing exudes fall luxe like a metallic gold top with a spiced orange cardigan—add skinny jeans and a pair of patent nude pumps and you’re ready for whatever the season has in store!
